Alongside his sports and co-curricular, Shreyas also prioritized his education. He completed his formal education at Don Bosco High School in Mumbai and later enrolled in R.A. Poddar College in Mumbai to graduate.

Shreyas’s innate talent was noticed by renowned cricket coach Pravin Amre when Shreyas was only 12 years old. Since then, Shreyas started training under Coach Amre, to whom he accolades much of his success.

As for his family, Shreyas grew up in a nuclear family with his parents and one sister. They appear to be private about their lives, so you won’t find much background information about Shreyas’ family on the internet.

Seeing his talent, Coach Amre wanted to be the one to train and prepare Shreyas for the state and national teams. He hasn’t looked back since then and prioritized training over everything.

Shreyas’ first big breakthrough came in 2014 when he played for the Trent Bridge Cricket Team in the U.K. and scored 297 runs in their three matches. However, Shreyas knew he wanted to return to India and play for the local and national teams eventually.

Later, he joined the Mumbai cricket team in 2014 and played for the Vijay Hazare Tournament in 2014-15. Following that, he qualified to play for the Ranji Trophy as well, scoring 809 runs, and came to the spotlight during that season.

With the kind of talent Shreyas showcased on the field, it wasn’t surprising when he was auctioned and bought to play for Delhi Daredevils in 2015 for a whopping Rs. 2.6 crores. His debut match was against Chennai Super Kings, and he stood out during that season.

His consistent growth in his form and skills led to him becoming the captain of Delhi Daredevils in 2018, replacing Gautham Gambhir. His ODI debut playing for the Indian national cricket team happened in 2017 when the team was playing against Sri Lanka.

Despite the hype and energy leading up to the debut of his international cricket career, things didn’t fare well for Shreyas right away. He scored nine runs against Sri Lanka in the debut match, following which he was bowled out.

It didn’t stop Shreyas from running after his dreams, though, because during his test debut in 2021, Shreyas became the 16th cricketer in Indian cricket history to score a century at their debut test match.
